Prompting Tips for Better Results
1. Iterate and Refine
A single prompt doesn’t have to do everything. You can always follow up with additional questions:
“We've come up with ten areas to discuss. What areas aren't covered yet?”
“You have identified five possible reasons, what could be some additional reasons for this?”
“You have provided upsides to the idea, but what would be the downsides?”
2. Clearly Define The Role
Tell the AI what "persona" you want it to adopt.
Instructing the AI on what persona to adopt helps it frame the response appropriately.
3. Break Down Complex Requests
If your request is complicated, break it into smaller, manageable parts.
Start with the main question, then follow up with additional details or constraints.
You can also use bullet points or a numbered list to outline your needs within a single prompt.
4. Ask For A "Chain of Thought"
For complex problems, ask the AI to show its work.
Adding the sentence "When reasoning through this, show me each step of your reasoning" can help.
