Prompting Tips for Better Results
Use the ROSES Framework!
The ROSES framework helps you build precise, context-rich prompts by defining key elements. It’s widely used for creating structured and effective prompts.
- R — Role: Who or what the AI should be in this scenario (e.g., “as a marketing strategist,” “as a hiking guide,” etc.)
- O — Objective: What you want to accomplish — the goal of the prompt.
- S — Scenario: The context or situation in which the prompt lives (background, constraints, or environment).
- E — Expected Solution: The kind of response or outcome you expect (a plan, list, analysis, etc.).
- S — Steps: The process or sequence the AI should follow to produce the output.
Here’s an example of how to use ROSES in a single, clear prompt:
“As a Role: content marketer, Objective: increase organic traffic to a new blog by 50% in 6 months, Scenario: in the niche of sustainable/low-glycemic diet blogging with modest current traffic, Expected Solution: provide a content calendar + SEO strategy + tactics, Steps: 1) audit existing content, 2) identify keyword gaps, 3) propose 12 monthly posts, 4) suggest backlink outreach, 5) measurement plan.”
This structure helps the AI understand not just what you want, but also why and how you want it.
